Junior Golf Program - 6 Easy Steps

Introducing youths to golf and assisting in the development of their skills is an important part of ensuring the long-term future of their golf. Club59 Junior Academy and their golf professionals are committed to the development of junior players less than 18 years of age with the introduction of our Junior Development Program.

Key objectives of the program consist of:

  • Encouraging boys and girls to play golf,
  • Emphasis on FUN and safety when playing golf,
  • Teach golf techniques, etiquette and skills,
  • Provide access to practice facilities and on golf course play,
  • Identify talent, provide and assist with further development opportunities.

JUNIOR PATHWAY

We have created a SIX LEVEL JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM so that it is easier for the junior golfer and their parents/guardians to measure their golfing progress.

LEVEL 1 – ROOKIE

This level provides the perfect introduction to golf for children with little or no golf experience, aged from 6 years. The key to these lessons is for the child to learn the basics of golf and to have FUN doing it. Children will learn:

  • Grip, stance, posture (basic fundamentals),
  • Putting, chipping, pitching, and basic swing movements,
  • Golf Clubs and their various uses,
  • Golf etiquette and safety on the SHORT COURSE,
  • Skin protection,
  • Skills tests, fun games and giveaways.

Rookie clinics are generally conducted on Thursday afternoons throughout the school term whilst school holiday camps are also offered. All golf clubs, balls are supplied complimentary for those children who do not have equipment.

It is estimated that it will take a full term (6 weeks) for the junior golfer to advance to the next level. A GOLF SKILLS TEST will be held regularly so that it will be possible for the junior golfer to advance to the next level.

Requirements to reach level 2 - STAR

  • Basic understanding of putting with a score of 27 or better over 9 holes putting.
  • Basic chipping with the ability to hit 2 out of 5 chip shots on the green near the hole.
  • Basic pitching with the ability to hit 1 shots out of 5 over a bunker onto the green.
  • Play 6 holes on the short course in a score of 36 or better.

LEVEL 2 – STAR

This is a more advanced program where the junior golfer will begin to play regularly on the SHORT COURSE on the driving range.

Juniors will learn and be provided with:

  • Short Game Coaching
  • Golf terminology
  • Basic Golf Rules
  • On Course play and instruction
  • Skills tests and regular involvement in the limited hole Saturday afternoon junior competition.

Regular participation in school terms clinics and school holiday camps are a requirement of each junior to progress to the next level.

It is estimated that it will take a full term (8 weeks) for the junior golfer to advance to the next level. A GOLF SKILLS TEST will be held regularly so that it will be possible for the junior golfer to advance to the next level.

Requirements to reach level 3 - MASTER

  • Intermediate understanding of putting with a score of 24 or better over 9 holes putting.
  • Intermediate chipping with the ability to hit 3 out of 5 chip shots on the green near the hole.
  • Intermediate pitching with the ability to hit 2 shots out of 5 over a bunker onto the green.
  • Play 6 holes on the short course in a score of 30 or better.
